The park was the first of its kind in India, opening in 1936. It was given his name in honor of the late, great naturalist and environmentalist Jim Corbett. The beautiful Jim Corbett National Park is known for housing the highest number of tigers of any Indian national park, and it can be found at the foothills of the Himalayas, not far from the well-known hill station of Nainital.

The park encompasses the scenic landscapes of Pauri Garhwal, Almora, and Nainital and spans a total area of 1318.54 square kilometers, 520 of which are the main area and the remainder are buffers. To see wild animals in their natural habitat, a jeep safari into the thick forest is an absolute must. A tiger might even make an appearance if you’re lucky. On the jeep safari, you can take in the sights of the verdant forest, crisscrossed by rivers and streams and even a few waterfalls. You can also spend the night in one of the park’s lodges for a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Jim Corbett Safari Location Details Cost Contact Timings And History

Located in the town of Ramnagar in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand, Jim Corbett National Park is the country’s first tiger reserve and the oldest national park. It was named after the famous hunter and conservationist Jim Corbett. Both domestic and international nature enthusiasts agree that the Park is a veritable paradise.

The 1936-built Jim Corbett National Park, originally called Hailey National Park due to its location before independence, is now a part of the Corbett tiger reserve. As the first Tiger Reserve established in 1973 as part of Project Tiger, it is well-known for safeguarding the critically endangered Royal Bengal Tiger of India. It’s no surprise that this park is a favorite among Indians and foreigners alike. Everything concerning the Jim Corbett safari is handled by the Indian forest services department.

We are not allowed to ask for any special treatment from the forest rangers, who are separated into guide groups and driver teams. You can go on a jungle of safari in Corbett National safari after reserving a trip, but you won’t be able to have any say in which areas of the park you visit. Jim Corbett National safari has a strict no-entry policy after sundown, so plan accordingly: arrive early, book your jungle safari in advance, and don’t expect a refund.
