Pariej Main lake is a shallow-water lake, making it an ideal habitat for both migratory and resident bird species. There are a lot of bird species that do breed here, and they tend to stick around. Since boating and other forms of commercial activity are prohibited in this area, the environment has been preserved in its natural state and the bird population has been able to flourish as a result.
