In the year 1980, three tiger kittens were born to two adults of a typical tiger coloration. The zoo was supposed to be located near Ghatikia, which is in close proximity to the Khandagiri and Udayagiri caves. Kanjia lake exhibited a gorgeous scene with its large breadth of over 125 acres, the low and sloping hills of Jujhagarh and Krushnanagar D.P.F.S., and rich green vegetation on both sides of the lake. The only way to get to the zoo from Bhubaneswar was to go 38 kilometers to Chandaka, hence the best place to locate it would have been the Jujhagarh Forest Block. This would have been ideal for the location of the zoo.
