Sivasagar Sivadol is a complex of buildings on the shores of Sivasagar pond that includes the temples Sivadol, Visnudol, and Devidol. In 1734, Bar Raja Ambika, the queen of Ahom King Swargadeo Siba Singha, constructed the Sivasagar Sivadol Temple in an effort to reassert the Ahoms’ dominance over Kamrup. Around 300 years ago, in the capital city of the Ahom Kings, stood one of the greatest Shiva temples in the world.
