Lal Tibba Mussorie Significance

The Landour Clock Tower marks the commencement of the Landour Cantonment, where the Lal Tibba Trek begins. While the route beyond Landour Clock Tower is too steep and narrow for vehicles, driving all the way to Char Dukan is not necessary. A well-marked route leads off the hike.

While this stretch of the route is steep, it has been concreted for your walking convenience. After a mile of hiking up this narrow path, you’ll come to a vantage point in the northeast. Magnificent vistas of the surrounding mountains may be seen from here. A shed may be found close by. Relax for a moment and take in the breathtaking scenery.

Just around 200 feet away is Doma’s Inn, widely considered to be one of Landour’s finest eateries. Food from Tibet is a must-try. Apart from the beauty of the location itself, the atmosphere is superb. Famous Indian writer Ruskin Bond lives in the house next to Doma’s Inn, where he often does readings and book signings. Nearby is a Deodar tree that is at least a century old. Please don’t fail to notice it.

From the Bonds’ home in Ruskin to the Char Dukan Trail Away from you: 850 meters. Twenty-five minutes to an hour and a half trek time. The hiking path begins in this area. Steep and well-defined, the trek is not for the faint of heart. The tall Deodar trees, however, make the hike more bearable. Cicadas’ reverberating songs keep you company. It’s hard to ignore this path’s charm when you see it, with its rustic appearance.
